AE Documentary Film Project: A World of Difference

AE members are producing a library of video footage, with an eye toward production of a short documentary film, “A World of Difference.” Some participants have already begun to work on major channels of distribution, including national TV.

The proposed film portrays six problematic situations, and describes how the practice of aikido offers options for dealing with stress that reduce fearful, angry, isolative, and destructive responses.

  1. Youth in High Crime Areas (Bronx streets, Brazilian favelas)
  2. Coercion in Institutions
  3. Security Forces (policemen, marines)
  4. International Tensions (Mideast hostilities, inter-ethnic strife)
  5. Victims of Abuse (trauma recovery work)
  6. Everyday Conflicts (business, families)

Being In Movement® mindbody training examines how breathing, posture, and movement simultaneously shape and are shaped by thoughts, feelings, and intentions. Through  this process of self-study, BIM teaches people to develop an integrated mind/body state of awareness, calmness, power, and love and use that state as a foundation for effective action.

BIM has been effective in such diverse applications as computer ergonomics, performance improvement for musicians and athletes, sexual abuse recovery, conflict resolution, and focusing for children with Attention Deficit Disorder.
