Some AE professionals have found it productive to apply aiki methods in helping victims of abuse in their efforts to recover from trauma. Their experience demonstrates that focusing on the aiki elements of body awareness, empowerment, compassion, self-control, and self-protection has a great deal to offer as a complement to traditional psychotherapeutic approaches.
Paul Linden, Ph.D., whose seminal paper on the subject is linked below, offers workshops and has proposed conferences and research initiatives to deepen understanding in this area.
